In the Hagadat Ma'aseh Nissim (by the author of Netivot HaMishpat), it is explained in this manner why, even if we are all wise, all understanding, etc., it is still a mitzvah for us to recount the Exodus from Egypt. If the recounting was merely for the sake of basic knowledge, then what point is there in telling it to someone who already knows? But the primary obligation of the recounting is to delve into each detail of the goodness and to contemplate how the Holy One, Blessed be He, in His great mercy and kindness, intended these benefits for the welfare of the collective Israel throughout all generations. Each act of goodness was meant to ensure the survival of the collective Israel forever and ever. The more we examine the good deeds done for us, the more we will recognize the goodness intended for us, even for our lives to this day. Therefore, whoever elaborates more on the story of the Exodus from Egypt is praiseworthy. This is why the author of the Haggadah brought the story of the sages who recounted the Exodus all night long. This is the essence of his words. It is evident that part of the concept of giving thanks and recognizing goodness is to contemplate the hidden goodness in each detail of the miracles, and through this, the gratitude and recognition of goodness will grow more and more.
