We learn that in the initial stage of the Exodus from Egypt, the Israelites acquired faith, which brought them physical redemption. In the second stage, with the splitting of the Red Sea, they also acquired trust, leading to spiritual redemption. This is the meaning of "He brought His people out from among them to eternal freedom."

And this is what is stated in the Haggadah: "The dough of our ancestors did not have time to become leavened before the King of Kings revealed Himself to them, etc." And refer to the commentary of the Vilna Gaon (the Gra) on the Haggadah for what Rabbi Avraham, son of the Gra, explained about this. Indeed, according to our explanation, we can say that during the Exodus from Egypt, the light of faith was revealed to them. In the second stage, when they strengthened and relied on the Holy One, Blessed be He, and journeyed into the sea, they were granted the light of trust. As Rabbeinu Bachya wrote (Shemot 14:15): "Speak to the children of Israel – that the sea is destined to split before them, and they should trust, and immediately they will journey. And behold, Moshe did so, informed the Israelites of this great miracle, they trusted, and immediately journeyed."
