It is written in the Haggadah: "In every generation, a person is obligated to see themselves as if they had left Egypt." The simple meaning of this statement is that a person should imagine in their mind as if they were personally in Egypt, endured the hardship of the bondage, and afterward gained freedom, and to thank Hashem for their redemption and the salvation of their soul. However, this needs explanation, because in order to truly internalize this through contemplation and deep recognition, one must be a great person. How can it be required of every person to do so and reach a state of gratitude for their redemption when their heart is far from this reality?
