Dvar Torah of The Rosh Yeshiva Maran Hagaon Rav Ahron Walkin ZT”L

We were zocheh b''H to reach the Yom Tov of Shavuos completing the sfiras ha'omer. The Torah uses the words ''usfartem LACHEM'' the sefira is FOR YOU. How is the sfira for US? Rebbe Zt"l said over the Ohr Hachaim Hakadosh in P' Ki Savo by the words ''v'samachta b'chol hatov''- 'to be happy with all the good'. He says there that if a person would experience the true essence of Torah, he'd run after Torah like a drunk man from sheer happiness! R' Sheinberg Zt"l, who was very close to Rebbe Zt"l, once said that when he came to the Chafetz Chaim, and the Chafetz Chaim was told that he came all the way from America and its comforts just to learn Torah in the yeshivos in Europe, the shocking response of the Chafetz Chaim was Nu Nu- as if to say that not a big deal! But to R' Sheinberg it was a very big deal! He then understood that the Chafetz Chaim LIVED the way that the Ohr Hachaim Hakadosh described! The Chafetz Chaim knew the essence and value of the Torah, so of course, an American should run to Europe to learn Torah! We count the sefira to show our excitement for Matan Torah like Rebbe Zt"l said over from the 'Chinuch'- In mitzva 306: When we finally reach the end of the counting, our excitement for Torah is tremendous! THIS is the ''LACHEM''- that we are zocheh to attain such high levels of excitement for Torah through sfiras ha'omer! May we be zocheh to come into Shavuos with ''sheva shabbosos TEMIMOS'' as Rebbe Zt"l said b'shem the Ksav V'hakabbalah that we become T'MIMIM- Wholesome, well-rounded yidden through the sfiras ha'omer. And may we be zocheh to a true kabbalah HaTorah! Gut Yom Tov/Shabbos!
